Geniosity of Genealogy: Cool Thing I Learned for Research!

Hey everyone! I learned a huge Geniosity of Genealogy that I want to share. Yeah, I know, really long title. This is just a quick little post of something cool I wanted to share! I actually was originally making this to be a Liebster Award post. I was nominated by Kaelyn for it. But I couldn’t find the questions she had put for her nominees so I just decided to make a post of this. Well then I found the questions… (I should have just read the whole thing) I was kinda in a hurry (not that I needed to be, that was just an excuse). So anyway since I deleted the whole post before finding the questions I just decided to make this post and do that later. I know you probably have no idea what I’m talking about. I understand I’m being kinda confusing. Anyway lets get on with the post and I will do the Liebster Award next week. 😀

So I had a kinda cool idea. So every time make a post about a cool genealogy tip or something I learned about genealogy and want to share it then I call it a “Geniosity of Genealogy” and I will use that cool graphic below.

Geniosity of Genealogy

So I wanted to know if I was related to any pilgrims. So I figured it out and wanted to show you guys the steps of geniosity I took.

How to learn if you are related to pilrgims:

  1. Look up a famous pilgrim on a search engine (if you don’t know of pilgrims by name look that up too).
  2. Search his/her name on Family Search (if you don’t have a Family Search account go here and it’s free and helps you with the awesome stuff I’m talkin’ bout).
  3. Look at the results that popped up for the pilgrim and make sure the vitals (name, date of birth, etc) are the same as the search engine results.
  4. Once you’re sure it’s the same person click on him/her.
  5. Then once you are viewing the person on Family Search click on “View My Relationship.”
  6. That should show how you are related (if at all) to that pilgrim.
  7. Then if you want to see if you are related to any other people that were aboard the Mayflower click on the word “MAYFLOWER” above the “View My Relationship” button. It will then take you to a list of 162 people of whom were aboard the Mayflower and you click on each person to if you are closely related to any of them.

I know that all may have sounded a bit confusing. I recommend doing each one of these step by step instead of just remembering each step and doing it because you won’t understand of it. But if you do it as I explain it then you will understand (hopefully).

This post is turning out to be a little bit longer than I had anticipated but yeah, that’s fine. Also if you still haven’t started researching genealogy but would like to then talk to me and I can help you get started. Also I have made a bunch of posts that can help you to understand and get started researching genealogy. If you want to these post go to the search thingy on my site and search “genealogy” and that should help. 😉

Let me know how you liked this post. If you tried the steps of geniosity tell me what happened! Did you learn anything interesting? Let me know in the comments below. I will see you all later! -Ezra

Busy Again…

Wow… Boy was I wrong when I though I might have more time to write blog posts during the school year XD! So yeah I have way more school and I am a lot more busy than I though I would be. I know it sounds like I’m making up excuses not to make posts but I promise I really want to make lots of cool posts and I have so many ideas. Anyway I think I will only be able to post 2-6 times a month usually sometime in the middle of the two. So I have a really fun idea of an award to make called “This or That?” But yeah I am really busy. I might be able to do the WBV tomorrow but we’ll see if I can then.

Okay to be honest I actually do have some time in the evenings to write posts (like I’m doing now) but I am usually very tired and worn out from doing school all day and I need to rest rather than being on the computer writing. So I will be able to write in the evenings sometimes but not near as often as back in the day… So yeah basically I am just going to make posts about as often as most people not as often as I want to and used to do. Also I know you all are dying for another genealogy post and I am still trying to think of what to write for that (it’s kinda hard to come up with a bunch of genealogy posts). But yeah I know I have only done like 1 maybe 2 genealogy posts since I changed the name and design of the blog so yeah I’m kinda failing at that.

I will see you tomorrow (maybe)! And yeah I want to get to the genealogy and award post(s) as soon as possible, so stay tuned. 😉 Later! -Ezra

Hello friends! Told ya I would do this post! I may sometimes be late but I never give up! XD  Alright we’ve been waiting so long, lets get started! First we’re gonna do the Sunshine Blogger Award!

Thanks so much Keziah for nominating me for not only this award but also the other one I’m about to do! Everyone be sure to check my awesome blogger friend Keziah’s awesome blog! Her blog is super cool and I highly encourage you to check it out! 😀

RULES:

1. Use the sunshine blogger award logo

2. Give thanks to the blogger that nominated you

3. Answer the 11 questions given to you

4. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions

Keziah’s Questions:

  1. How long have you been blogging?

About a year and a half.

2. What is your favorite subject to learn about?

Music (if you count music anyway)!

3. How tall are you?

Short… I think I’m like 4′ 8″ or 4′ 9″ (I’m scared to measure myself).

Pizza (if that counts as one thing because technically it’s lots of food combined)…

5. What is your favorite season?

Winter!

6. Can you skip rocks and if so, very good?

Yeah, kind of, I’m not very good.

7. What do you think is wrong with the world?

Hmm… That most of the world doesn’t know Jesus.

8. What do you think needs to be changed to fix those world problems?

Sending more missionaries and praying for the people who don’t know Jesus are 2 big steps that can be taken.

9. What is something you wish people had told you before you started blogging?

Introduce yourself…

10. ONE book to read the rest of your life – What would it be (besides the Bible, be that one of your choices. 🙂 )

Hmm I should probably pick a really long book… This is like the hardest question ever…. Probably some kind of devotional.

11. What is your all-time favorite quote?

That’s really tough. Maybe “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” -Franklin D. Roosevelt.

I’m really really bad at thinking of questions so these are mostly going to be very simple questions that everyone asks…

My Questions:

  1. What’s your favorite thing to do?
  2. If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
  3. What’s your favorite subject?

  11. What’s your favorite continent (besides where you live)?

My Nominees:

Mary Elizabeth

Arabella

Abby Rose

Isabel Eleison

Whoever else wants to do it then go for it please! I just don’t know who all is tired of me tagging them over and over and who’s not. So if you were nominated feel free to not do it and if you weren’t feel free to do it anyway, I totally understand either scenario 😉 .

But yeah that’s it for this one *saves the draft so he can work on the other award tomorrow*. *Comes back the next day*. Okay I’m back everyone! Now time for the Back to the Basics Award. I was also nominated by Keziah for this award! Thank you so much Keziah! I always love it when you nominate me for awards! 😀 Everyone check out her blog, she would definitely appreciate it!

RULES:

1. Thank the person who tagged you and link their post to yours.

2. Use the original featured image and include it in your post.

3. Copy and paste the meaning of the tag into your post.
The Meaning of this Tag:
“For many people here in the United States, August means the beginning of a new school year, or at the very least time to prepare for school to begin in early September. It can be very stressful and chaotic. “Back to School” is all over advertisements, television, the internet, grocery stores, department stores…pretty much everywhere you look. It’s a combination of excitement, anxiety, and stress that our society dreads yet looks forward to every year.
In this month’s tag, inspired by the nostalgia of “Back to School” season, Purple Rose and I want to go “Back to the Basics” and reflect on our education and early life. Join us in remembering the sweet smell of freshly opened crayons, the sound of pencils sharpening, and the sight of red ink on the most recently graded assignment.”

4. Answer the questions.

5. Tag at least one person.

6. Have fun and enjoy the rest of your month!

  1. Did you (do you) go to public school or private school? Or, were you (are you) homeschooled? (Please do not share the name of your school) I have always been homeschooled and it’s awesome!
  2. What was (is) your favorite subject in school? Writing, but if music counts then I’d say that.
  3. What was (is) your favorite grade in school? I don’t know, maybe 6th grade.
  4. Did (do) you prefer pens or pencils? Why? Definitely pens! Pencils always break or they run out of led and you have to sharpen them, pens are super easy + they look cooler!
  5. What was (is) your favorite school lunch? Pizza!!!!
  6. What is the biggest lesson you have learned in life? God knows my true identity even if I don’t.
  7. What do you wish someone taught you a long time ago? Okay I’m actually agreeing with Keziah on this one. I’m really bad at typing the right way and I’m just now learning how XD…

My nominee(s):

Audrey Kate

Ariana Evans

Kaelyn

YOU!!

If you are dying to do this tag please feel free to to so! And if you dying not to do this tag please feel free to not do so… Yeah I totally understand if you don’t have time or if you just don’t feel like doing this tag. I also 100% understand if you just really love this tag (because btw it’s #awesome) and if that’s the case then please just take it and use it (tell ’em I nominated ya)!

Anyway that’s it! Have fun in school… Bye! -Ezra

WBV #16

Hello friends! You thought I had left you, well I am still alive! I have just been so busy (and school hasn’t even started yet 😦 ) But for some reason over this summer I have learned I have more time to blog during the school year, I know that seems weird but since I do school school online then I’m able to blog as soon as I’m done. Oh and YES! The concert went amazing! I think we had like 50-75 people there and they all loved it! But anyway it’s time to start the Weekly Bible Verse(s)….

Weekly Bible Verse

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. Galatians 4:4-7

So this is epic! It is saying that we were once slaves to sin. But now we are sons of God. I think it’s interesting that it says sons instead of children. But I think the reason is because back then if you were a son then you had rights and you were the heir but a daughter didn’t really mean anything so it says sons because it wants to show that we are heirs. So even if you are a daughter you have heir and your kinda like a son because you have heir and authority in God’s kingdom from being a child of God.

So I know that was probably a little bit confusing. Like the part a daughter being a son that didn’t really make sense to me either and it’s even harder to explain it. So if you don’t really understand what I’m saying ask God or me in the comments and maybe I can give better clarification. 😀 Anyway I will see you next time when I do a bunch of rewards that have been in my drafts for weeks… Bye! -Ezra

Today is THE Day!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted much including missing WBV. My friends were over for a couple days and I was super busy yesterday. But anyway I am just stopping by to tell you all that today is today!

So some of you may know that last year Indigo Halo (my band) did a concert at the park. Well the town heard us and invited us to play for the festival this year. By the way this is a small town like it only has one park, the population is like 2.2k, so yeah really small town. Anyway but yeah we got invited to play in this year’s town festival which is today… Also we just learned about 3 weeks ago that we are the main event! We are the only actual band playing (the others are just solos). So we will be the last ones playing and everyone will have high expectations, we will fulfill them! 😀 I am just going to be playing bass guitar today not electric. In our band my grandpa plays electric guitar amazingly (he’s been playing it for like 45 years). So yeah I just mostly play bass because I’m better at it than I am at electric; oh I also sing. We have 3 of our own songs that we will be playing and I think 5 that are covers, so we have a total of 8 songs to play. What’s that? Am I nervous? Oh yes! But I am also confident! Anyway I will tell you how it goes next week (hopefully…).

Just wanted to give you an update about one of the most thrilling days of my life. Later! -Ezra

Bible Verse Dissect!

cotton candy

HELLO FRIEND!!!

This is Kaelyn, from the blog Kaelyn’s Life, here for this month’s August post!!! YEAH!!

I can almost hardly believe that August is already here and school has already started, for some of you. I start my school on Thursday which is like…

Bitmoji Image

But yeah!!! 🙂 🙂

I am so glad to be here today and I just want to thank Ezra for letting me write on here! Thanks!! 🙂

I know last month, we did a Bible Verse Dissect, but I felt like we really should do that again for this month, and in September you will be seeing one of my Genealogy Gardener posts!!

That is something to look forward to! What we have been focusing on in the last BVD, we have been going through Psalms 91 and I still want to focus on that amazing chapter of the Bible.

Today, we will be focusing on Psalms 91: 5-7 in the NLT, or the New Living Translation version. 🙂

Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.

Bitmoji Image
VERSE!!!!

These amazing three verses talk about that we do not have to be afraid of the things that happen at night, or for the evilness that stalks around during the day.

We do not fear sickness that comes at night or during the day and even though many may fall at your side, and die, these evils will not even touch you.

I feel like for us to fully understand what this means, I am going to put down the rest of this Psalms.

Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished.

9 If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras;
you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life
    and give them my salvation.”

WOW! JUST WOW!! Jesus is always protecting us, and no evil thing will be fall on us!!!

We will crush serpents and he rescues those that love Him and he rewards us with long life and gives us salvation.

Wow! Jesus is so incredible! He is our shield, he is my shield, and your shield, and everyone’s shield.

Something that stood out for me is that the word, SHIELD. Let that word resonate in your heart this week as one of the qualities our heavenly Papa.

GOD IS OUR SHIELD!!

That is all for this month’s Bible Verse Dissect and I hoped this Psalm has encouraged you as much as it has encouraged me.

See you next month as I will do a Genealogy Gardener post!! Until then, friends!!!

LOVE GOD!!

LOVE OTHERS!!!

CHANGE THE WORLD!!

CAMP!

Time to talk about church camp! 😀

I had an amazing time at camp! So first I would like to talk about kinda a testimony that I have from camp of how God worked in my life. 🙂

Testimony:

So God has given me the gift of prophecy. I have not really been using that gift very much recently. And the reason is because I am not very good at praying for other people and sharing prophecies with them. During Camp I kinda learned how to pray better. Like could already pray when it’s just me and God because I just hang out and talk with him like I would my best friend. But when I’m sharing prophecies it’s hard for people to understand me sometimes and I forget what to say and stuff like that. So at Camp we talked about Jonah. You know the story. So once he gets in the tummy of the whale he starts praying. During the sermon the preacher was talking about how Jonah prayed, he called it underwater prayers. Underwater prayers are: Specific, Strong, and Scripture. This was super helpful to me. Underwater prayers are when you are stuck or trapped in your own failure or un-obedience. Jonah was not obedient when God told him to go to Nineveh. Therefore he got trapped in a whale… So I thought that was super cool! Also the next day they were talking about how when we spend time with God we want to know how to talk to him better. So this probably the best thing I got from this week. If you don’t know what to pray, then do something called ACTS:

AdorationSpend some time telling Jesus what you love about Him! Think of a few aspects of His character that you adore.

Confession- Search your heart for any sin and confess it to Jesus. He is faithful to forgive us when we repent.

ThanksgivingThank God for blessings in your life and ways He has encouraged you this week.

SupplicationThis is a word for asking God for things on your heart, for yourself or others. Take time to ask God for breakthrough in areas of need.

That’s pretty much all of my testimony from last week and I hope it encourages you! 😀

Food:

I thought the food there was really pretty good. For some reason most people didn’t like it but my sister and I did. We had cereal every day for breakfast and sometimes sausage or eggs, I don’t really remember what all we had. For lunches we had pizza or burgers or… Yeah  I have a bad short-term memory. For suppers we had food probably,  XD I don’t know? We ate mashed potatoes and fried chicken and green beans one day. So yeah that’s the food…

Activity:

So we had a lot of activities to choose from during our free-time. These were all the activities there were:

  • The lake (swimming, the water slide, the water trampoline etc).
  • Boating (kayaks, peddle boats, paddle boards etc).
  • Fishing (I never did this because we only had 2 hours of free time and I’m horrible at fishing).
  • Zip-line (super fun).
  • Giant swing (I didn’t do it this year because the line was so long but I did last year and it was amazing).
  • Paintball (NEVER DO PAINTBALL, it’s a waste of 5 bucks and it hurts so bad and leaves you with big bruises)!
  • Archery-tag (so much fun).
  • Bazukaball (I have no idea what this is I never did it).
  • Basketball (regular basketball… still fun but I didn’t do it much since I do it every day)
  • Field games (frisbee, flag football, etc).
  • Gaga ball (you might have played this before, it’s fun, I actually won playing against like 50 people, yay 😀 ).

I think that’s basically all the activities there were during free-time.

Games:

They had super fun games! This is  most of them (we played a bunch of games):

  • Wells fargo: It was where like there were 4 teams and each team had a base, each base had a bucket, and in the middle of all the bases was another bucket for each team. You had to try and get a coin from your bucket at your base to your bucket in the middle without getting tagged with a pool noodle by a bunch of people with pool noodles. Whoever gets the most points wins. It was really fun!
  • Silly songs with Larry game: This was epic! It was girls vs boys and they had to see who remembered the names of the Silly songs with Larry (from Veggietales) the best.
  • Blind connect 4: You’ve played connect 4 right? It’s connect 4 but with bandanas over your eyes so you can’t see. This was also girls vs boys. I didn’t do it but it looked fun.
  • Human foosball: So the name probably explains itself but it’s basically foosball except with real people instead of little clay people (I think they’re clay). It was really hard to understand but it was super fun once I figured it out. 😀
  • Shaving-cream war: It is what it sounds like it is. Just a big shaving cream war between 4 teams! Oh there was also a secret agent that each team had to keep from getting shaving-cream on him/her, so we would protect the secret agent and the other teams had to figure out who it was and completely cover him/her in shaving-cream.
  • Can you do this?: A game that requires skill (lots of it). So it was also boys vs girls. Someone from each team had to go up on stage and do something really cool, a flip, the splits chug a water bottle, etc. Once the person from say the boys team did like a flip there would have to be a girl that could match it exactly. If the other team couldn’t do it then your team gets a point but if they could they get a point. So they did lots of really impressive stuff. I didn’t do anything because I’m not that talented. But it was all super fun!

So each during some of the games, Wells fargo, Human foosball, and Shaving-cream war the teams were all split in 4. I was on the Blue team which by the way won the whole thing. Also with the girls vs boys games, the boys won all but one which they tied on; so I was on both the winning teams, yay!

That is pretty much all that I have to share from my amazing experience at Camp! Thanks for reading! I will see you later! -Ezra

Weekly Bible Verse

Hiya pals! Time for our Weekly Bible Verse!

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Yeah! Confidently draw near to the throne of grace, Jesus gives us grace! When we feel troubled or if we feel guilty then God gives us grace and shows us mercy to forgive our sins or help us even when we don’t deserve it. So don’t hold your guilt or shame inside and don’t believe that you could never earn his grace, you don’t have to earn it, it is freely given, you just have to take it. Confidently confess to the Lord and he will give you grace. 🙂

That’s all for today! If you have any questions or would like to add anything please do so in the comments below! Jesus loves ya! -Ezra
