Geniosity of Genealogy: Fun Activities

Hey everyone! How’s it going?

I’m still on vacation and it is still awesome! My sister and I participated in a baking “competition” and it was awesome! Well it wasn’t really a competition because there was only like 4 people including my sister and I so that would be kinda mean to pick out 3 teams who’s dish won and whose was horrible (everyone had a great dish). But yeah everyone said they loved our dessert. It was supposed to be themed fall so we made like a cool “Green Apple Tart.”

Anyways I’ve had fun, and I’d like to tell you guys more but I know you’re just itching to get to this geniosity of genealogy (I literally am itching because I got bit by like 100’s of ticks yesterday, ouch…). So here is the geniosity of genealogy:

Geniosity of Genealogy

Fun Activities!: So I was toying around on Family Search as usual and found some super cool genealogy activities. This time it’s not boring, I promise. And really even if you’re not interested in genealogy you will find this fun, if you don’t then I give you permission to yell at me in the comments XD. So this is super simple. Just go here.

And there you have it! Now it should say this:

Family History Activities

In-Home and online activities designed for the whole family. It’s family history in a whole new way!

And there should be a bunch of cool activities even if you don’t think they look cool just try it out.

Just by the way, I think you have to have a Family Search account for this, so bummer if you don’t. But if you don’t just go here. I promise it’s worth every penny. Just kidding, it’s free! So if you get a 100% free account on Family Search you can make your own family tree with helpful resources and records to make your genealogy experience super easy and fun. Anyways even if you don’t feel like taking the time to make an account (like 5 minutes) you can still check out all the cool activities and resources Family Search provides.

That’s all for today! Have an amazing rest of the week! 😀 Bye friends! -Ezra

My Staycation! So Far…

Hey everyone! I told you I would be able to write some during my staycation since I’m not doing much. So here we are.

We walked to a cool barbecue place after church on Sunday. They had really good food. Then yesterday we went to…  #### ##### I’m not going to say the name because that might kind of give away my location. Not that I think any of you are creepy stalkers, but just to be safe. Anyway it’s a super fun place with laser tag and a ropes course and tons of cool arcade games. Turns out, I’m really good at laser tag! I got most accurate both time I played. We ended up having to spend a lot more money than we thought we would for it, but it payed off.

This afternoon my sister and I will be in a baking competition! We are going to do amazing! It’s supposed to be fall themed so we are thinking of making a apple tart thingy that looks really cool (look it up).

Later today I have band practice. I’m now in two bands, because… I signed up for my youth group band so that will be cool. But actually the band practice I have today is my old band. I’ve started playing lead guitar in Indigo Halo because my cousin joined the band and started playing bass. So now we have a bigger band. the more the merrier.

But yeah that’s pretty much all so far! I just wanted to give you a quick update. I’m only half way through, so it’s not over yet. See you all later! -Ezra

Genealogy Gardener!!

peacefully reading

Hello there!!

It is Kaelyn @ Kaelyn’s Life here today for a Genealogy Gardener post!! Helping you to GROW your family tree knowledge!!

As you have seen in the past two months, I, Dr. Kaelyn, have been doing some Bible Verse Dissects and I am glad to have been able to be here, as Gardener Kaelyn. 🙂

SO, LET’S GET STARTED! !

First, to site my amazing sources with all of the information that I will be talking about in this post!!

https://www.genealogy.com/articles/research/00000005.html

https://www.genealogy.com/articles/research/

Be sure to check them out because they were so helpful and this WHOLE genealogy post stuff is based on their stuff!! SO YEAH, SEE WHAT THEY HAVE!!

today, we are talking about DETERMINING ACCURACY OF INFORMATION WHICH IS A PARAPHRASE OF THE ARTICLE DETERMINING ACCURACY OF INFORMATION FROM GENEALOGY.COM!!

So, everything in the bold below is a paraphrase!! Enjoy fellow Genealogy Gardeners!!

  1. When you find new info. be sure to check for inconsistencies because we can not believe everything that we read!!
  2. Use other documents to verify the information you have to make sure it is all the way true and genuine.
  3. Be sure to remember when the record was made. If it is older information, then it is probably a bit more reliable then information that was just written about something that happened in your family 95 years ago. 🙂

If you have any more questions about genealogy, be sure to ask Ezra more information because he knows more about then I do but if you do have questions, feel free to put them in the comments below and I can do my best to answer them.

Thanks and be sure to check out genealogy.com!!

That is all for now and I will see you all next month for another Bible Verse Dissect!!!

I’m Still Here/Big BIG News

Yes I am still here you knew I wouldn’t give up. I never do. I promise I did not plan to have the longest streak of not writing ever. It just worked out this way, and in ways that is good in other ways not so much. I am just SOOOO busy with school and other stuff. I have school for like 8 hours a day and then my teacher said on Saturdays I should catch up. And then on Sundays I have church and lifegroup and business. And then I also have music practice every week. So I am really busy. Actually I have to leave to do volunteer work in about 45 minutes so I don’t know whether or not I can finish this post right now (I actually started yesterday but didn’t have time to finish). Okay anyway you guys are definitely, definitely tired of me whining about my busy schedule XD. So lets move onto the importance of this post….

If you read my sister’s blog you know what I’m going to say but if you don’t then: …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I HAVE A NEW BABY BROTHER!!!!!!!! So the reason I didn’t tell you that my mom was pregnant and going to have another baby is because she wasn’t. You’re like, “Whu?” Well he is unbiological. So now 3 of my siblings are unbiological. They are all biological siblings to each other. We are fostering all of them. But it is out DHS (Department of Human Services). So we aren’t using a lawyer or anything for it. The reason it is out of DHS is because they’re mom is my mom’s cousin. There mom was having some issues (they don’t have a dad) and so she wanted us to take care of them. Well after 1 and a half years of taking care of the older two, she got pregnant again and she didn’t tell us until he was born… She (very very gladly) didn’t abort him because she didn’t believe in that (just btw neither do I). But she was going to put him up for adoption because she was still having issues and couldn’t take care of him but she did not want us to get mad or frustrated with her if she just keeps asking us to take care of her kids. So she actually never told us she was pregnant, we just figured it out. Anyway long story short. We told her we would take care of him and so she was so happy and now after a few weeks we have him. His name is Jeremiah. Sometimes we call him Jeremy. He is 7 weeks old, he’s pretty big for a baby, and we love him so much.

So that is my exciting news. I will be able to talk next week because I have a vacation from this crazy schedule, yes! Also it’s a staycation so I still have a computer to write with. Later! -Ezra
